Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Grocery Shopping List Price Optimizer ("the app") helps you build a personal catalogue of grocery items and shop prices, plan shopping lists, and find the best deals. The app does not require creating an account, and we do not operate any servers that store your catalogue or shopping list data — this policy explains what the app does with the data it works with, and what a few third-party services it uses do with it.

2. Data stored on your device

Your catalogues, shopping lists, shops, prices and app settings are stored locally on your device only. The app also keeps automatic local backups on your device so you can undo mistakes. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, removes this data.

3. Optional Google Drive backup

If you turn on Google Drive sync in Settings, the app asks you to sign in with Google and stores one backup file in your own private Google Drive app-data folder — a hidden space only this app can open, not visible among your regular Drive files. We cannot see or access that file; it stays between your device and your own Google account. Signing in uses Google Sign-In, which is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

4. Sharing a catalogue

The Share option in the app's Menu hands a catalogue file to your device's normal share sheet (e.g. email or a messaging app), or downloads it, at your choice. The app itself never sends this file anywhere on its own.

5. Advertising

The app is built to show ads through Google AdMob on mobile and Google AdSense on the web version, to help keep the app free; ads may not be turned on in every build or region. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, using Google's consent tools, and you can change that choice again from Settings at any time. Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier and general usage data to select and measure ads. This processing is governed by Google's own policies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Other services the app uses

Printing and exporting a shopping list as a PDF happens on your device, using your device's own printing or file tools. The app checks basic device information (such as manufacturer and model) only to tailor ad behaviour to your device, and never sends this information to us. In-app review prompts use your device's built-in Google Play or App Store review flow. The app does not use any analytics or crash-reporting services.

7. Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data retention and deletion

Since your data lives on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it. If you use Google Drive sync, you can delete the backup file from your Google Drive account at any time, or turn sync off from Settings first.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
